Paving in Kilkenny Limestone - Brussels (BE)

Bush HammeredFlamed & CleftNatural cleft

Centrum Boulevards, Brussels, Belgium

From Brouckèreplein to Fontainasplein a pedestrian zone has been installed with trees, plants, kiosks, water fountains and … bluestone by Brachot Family Member Kilkenny Limestone. The project is called ‘Good Move’. No less than 35,000 m2 of bluestone, equivalent to 12,000 tonnes of Kilkenny Limestone, was used for this construction! The Kilkenny Limestone was processed into edging stones and edge strips, cobblestones and plinths for the side streets. 4 different finishes were used: rough cleaved, bush hammered, sawn and flamed. With ‘Good Move’, people will be able to move more safely on foot, by bike and by public transport without the proximity of cars. This will create a more pleasant city with less noise pollution, fewer traffic victims and healthier air for everyone.
